Fremont
ABOUT
Fremont is located about 35 miles from Omaha, NE and is nestled along the Platte River. Named after American explorerer, politician, and military official General John C. Fremont, the city of Fremont was established in 1856 in hopes that the railroad would eventually come through that area. Sure enough, Union Pacific reached Fremont that year and in the years following so did the Sioux City Railroad, Pacific Railroad, and Elkhorn Valley Railroad.
